GSSSB Staff Nurse Vacancy 2026 – Category-Wise Details

The Board has notified 131 posts. Out of these, 46 are unreserved and 85 are reserved. Women get a horizontal reservation within each category.

Ex-servicemen have 13 posts earmarked within the total. No posts are reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) in this advertisement.

GSSSB Staff Nurse Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

You must hold one of these two qualifications, recognised by the Gujarat Nursing Council or the Indian Nursing Council:

• A B.Sc. (Nursing) degree from a recognised university or institution.
• A Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).

✅ You also need basic computer knowledge as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both, is compulsory.

If you are not yet registered with the Gujarat Nursing Council, you can still apply. You must register under the Gujarat Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act, 1968 at the time of appointment.

Age Limit (as on 12 October 2026)

The basic age limit is 18 to 35 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is given as follows.

Nationality

You must be an Indian citizen, or hold nationality as allowed under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Can Candidates From Outside Gujarat Apply?

Yes, but with two conditions. First, you need adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi. Second, reservation benefits are available only to original residents of Gujarat, so an outside-state candidate competes as unreserved.

There is one more thing to plan for. Paper II of the exam is in Gujarati only, and you must score at least 40% in it. If you come from another state, start your Gujarati preparation right away.

You can pay online by debit card, net banking, UPI or wallet. Transaction charges are extra. The fee is not refunded, even if you appear for the exam or your application is rejected.

GSSSB Staff Nurse Salary 2026

This is the section most candidates read first. The pay works in two phases.

What does this mean for you? For your first five years, your monthly pay is a flat ₹40,800, with no annual increments on the pay scale. After that, you move to the regular Level 5 scale, where pay grows with increments and Dearness Allowance (DA).

⚠️ The move to the regular scale depends on the outcome of SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012, which are pending in the Supreme Court. The notification says so clearly, so read that clause before you apply.

GSSSB Staff Nurse Exam Pattern and Selection Process

The selection is based on one written exam with two papers. It is followed by document verification and a medical examination.

Paper I – Nursing Subject (100 Marks)

Paper II – Gujarati Language (100 Marks)

Marking Scheme and Qualifying Marks

• Every question carries 1 mark, and wrong answers carry a penalty of one-fourth mark.
• You must score at least 40% in each paper separately, for every category.
• Paper I can be answered in Gujarati or English. Paper II is in Gujarati only.
• The merit list is prepared on the total marks of both papers.

Here is a quick example. Say you attempt 90 questions in Paper I, get 76 right and 14 wrong. Your score is 76 minus 3.5, which is 72.5 marks. Blind guessing costs you, so attempt only what you can eliminate down to two options.

💡 Pro Tip: Grammar alone is worth 40 marks in Paper II. Many nursing candidates ignore it and then miss the 40% cut in Gujarati. Give it daily practice.

1. Go to the OJAS website at ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
2. Complete your One Time Registration (OTR) if you have not done it already.
3. Click “Online Application”, then “Apply”, and select GSSSB.
4. Choose Advertisement No. 458/2026-27, Staff Nurse, Class-III, and read the details.
5. Click “Apply Now”, enter your Registration Number and date of birth, then click “Apply with OTR”.
6. Fill in your personal and educational details carefully.
7. Accept the declaration and click Save to generate your application number.
8. Upload your photograph (5 cm height by 3.6 cm width) and signature (2.5 cm height by 7.5 cm width) in JPG format, under 15 KB each.
9. Click “Confirm Application” and note your Confirmation Number.
10. Pay the exam fee online by 15 October 2026.
11. Download and print the confirmed application form.
