Indian Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is open to fresh graduates, and the bank has announced 1,500 training seats for FY 2026-27. If you hold a degree in any stream and want real branch-level banking experience on your CV, this notification deserves a close look. Online registration opens on 5 November 2026 and closes on 25 November 2026. You apply through the bank’s portal, after completing your profile on the NATS 2.0 apprenticeship website.

One honest point before you get started: this is a 12-month apprenticeship with a monthly stipend. It is not a regular bank job. In this guide, we explain exactly what that means, who can apply, how the online test works and which mistakes can cost you your application. We have also compared this year’s drive with last year’s and added a simple time plan for the 60-minute test.

Is Indian Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026 a Permanent Job?

No. An apprentice is a trainee, not a bank employee. You spend 12 months learning on the job in a branch and receive a stipend instead of a salary. As per the notification, apprentices do not get any other allowances or benefits.

The notification also does not promise a job at the end of the training.

So who should apply? Freshers who want hands-on banking exposure, a steady stipend and a stronger profile for future bank recruitments. In our view, it works well as a bridge year between graduation and a permanent job. Just treat it as training, not as a back door into the bank.

⚠️ Seats for states and UTs not listed above, and the category-wise split for each state, are in the official notification PDF. Check your own state’s row there before you decide where to apply.

💡 Pro Tip: Pick your state by the language you know, not by the seat count. You can apply to only one State/UT, and the language test is based on that choice.

SC / ST / PwBD₹175 + GST

You can pay online by debit card, credit card or internet banking. The fee is non-refundable, and you also bear the bank’s transaction charges. Indian Bank Apprentice Stipend 2026 – What Will You Earn?

The stipend depends on the type of branch where you are placed. The bank pays part of it and the government pays the rest.

Branch TypeMonthly StipendBank Component (max)Government Component (max)Approx. 12-Month Total
Metro / Urban₹15,000₹8,850₹6,150₹1,80,000
Rural / Semi-Urban₹12,300₹6,150₹6,150₹1,47,600

The stipend is a fixed amount. There is no separate Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) or other benefit on top. That matters if you are posted in a metro city, because ₹15,000 will not stretch far once you pay rent. Plan your monthly budget before you choose a state.

Indian Bank Apprentice Selection Process 2026

  1. Online Test: An objective multiple-choice test of 100 questions and 100 marks, with a composite time of 60 minutes. Questions appear in major regional languages, except the English section.
  2. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): Held after you qualify in the online test. You are exempt if you have an 8th, 10th or 12th mark sheet showing you studied the local language of that State/UT.
  3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must prove their eligibility with original documents.
  4. Merit List and Wait List: The bank prepares both State/UT-wise and category-wise. Ranking is by aggregate marks, highest first. If marks tie, the older candidate gets the higher rank.

There is no interview. You must score at least the minimum aggregate percentage, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates. There are no separate cut-offs for individual sections. The exact qualifying percentage and the negative marking rule are [Check official notification].
