About POWERGRID
Before you apply, it’s worth knowing exactly who you’d be working for — because POWERGRID is not just any government company.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise — the highest category of autonomy awarded to Central Government PSUs. It operates under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and is one of the largest electricity transmission utilities in the world.
Here’s what POWERGRID looks like by the numbers:
- 1,84,960 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines across India
- 291 Sub-Stations spread across the country
- Transmits approximately 50% of total power generated in India through its networks
- Owns and operates around 1,00,000 km of telecom network, with a presence in approximately 3,000 locations and intra-city connectivity in 500 cities
- A Gross Turnover of ₹45,792.32 Crores and a Profit After Tax of ₹15,521.44 Crores (FY 2024-25)
- Profit-making since its very inception — a track record few PSUs can match
POWERGRID also offers consultancy services in Transmission, Sub-Transmission, Distribution, and Telecom at both national and international levels.
India’s Energy Future — And Your Role In It
India is targeting 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. To support that, the National Electricity Plan envisions a capital investment of ₹9.16 lakh crore in transmission infrastructure by 2032. POWERGRID alone has an estimated outlay of ₹3.06 lakh crore up to 2032 — covering Inter-state and Intra-state transmission, Cross-border interconnections, International projects, Solar generation, Smart metering, and Data centre business.
This means joining POWERGRID right now puts you at the centre of India’s most ambitious infrastructure push. You won’t just have a stable Sarkari Naukri — you’ll be part of something genuinely transformational.
