Leave Travel Concession (LTC) is a valuable benefit that allows Central Government employees to travel with their family at government expense. The new LTC block 2026-2029 has started from January 2026, giving every eligible employee a fresh entitlement for both Home Town LTC and All-India LTC.
Our LTC Calculator helps you quickly determine your travel class entitlement based on your Pay Level, estimate your reimbursement amount, and check whether you are eligible for air travel. Whether you are planning to visit family or explore a new destination under All-India LTC, this tool will help you plan and calculate your entitlement.
New block, fresh entitlement: If you did not use your 2022-2025 block LTC, it lapses. The 2026-2029 block is a completely new entitlement. You can avail All-India LTC once and Home Town LTC twice in this four-year block.

Frequently Asked Questions — LTC Calculator 2026
Q: What is LTC and who is eligible for it?
A: LTC stands for Leave Travel Concession. It is a benefit given to Central Government employees (both permanent and temporary with over 1 year of continuous service) to travel to their home town or anywhere in India. The employee and their eligible family members (spouse, up to 2 dependent children, and dependent parents) are covered. LTC is governed by CCS (LTC) Rules, 1988.
Q: What is the current LTC block year?
A: The current LTC block is 2026-2029, which started from January 1, 2026. Under this block, you can avail: (1) Home Town LTC — twice in the 4-year block, i.e., once in 2026-27 and once in 2028-29; (2) All-India LTC — once in the entire 4-year block. The previous 2022-2025 block has now expired.
Q: What rail class am I entitled to under LTC?
A: Rail class entitlement depends on your Pay Level: Level 1-4: 2nd Class Sleeper | Level 5-8: AC 3-Tier | Level 9-11: AC 2-Tier | Level 12-13: First Class or AC 2-Tier | Level 14 and above: AC First Class. For bus travel, the entitlement is broadly Ordinary Bus (Level 1-4), Deluxe Bus (Level 5-8), and AC Bus (Level 9 and above).
Q: Can I travel by air under LTC?
A: Air travel under LTC is allowed as follows: Level 1-8: Not entitled; Level 9-11: Economy class only for travel to North-Eastern States, Jammu & Kashmir, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (prior approval required); Level 12-13: Economy class anywhere in India; Level 14 and above: Economy class (Business class only for officers in PMO/Cabinet Secretariat). Air travel requires prior sanction from the competent authority.
Q: What documents do I need to submit for LTC reimbursement?
A: You need to submit: (1) LTC-83 claim form duly filled; (2) Original train tickets or e-tickets with PNR; (3) Boarding passes for air travel; (4) Bus tickets for road travel; (5) Leave sanction order (minimum 1 day of EL or HPL must be availed); (6) Self-declaration that the journey was performed for LTC purpose; (7) Bank account details for RTGS/NEFT.
Q: What is the deadline to submit LTC claim after the journey?
A: LTC claims must be submitted within 3 months of the completion of the return journey. If you fail to submit within 3 months, you lose the right to claim reimbursement for that LTC. The claim should be submitted to your DDO along with all original tickets and supporting documents.
Q: Can I convert LTC to cash if I don’t travel?
A: Under normal LTC rules, you cannot convert LTC to cash. However, during special circumstances (like COVID, the Government announced LTC Cash Voucher Scheme), cash conversion is allowed. Currently, no such scheme is active. You must actually perform the journey to claim LTC reimbursement.
Q: What happens if my LTC claim is more than my actual entitlement?
A: You are reimbursed only the actual fare paid, subject to a cap of the entitled class fare for the shortest/direct route. If you traveled by a higher class than entitled, you get only the entitled class fare. If you took a longer route, reimbursement is capped at the shortest route fare. Claiming excess LTC is treated as misconduct.
