MRPL Fire Officer Vacancy 2026

MRPL has notified only 5 posts, so competition will be sharp. Four posts are unreserved (UR) and one is reserved for Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL).

The post is identified as suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) with at least 40% disability. The eligible categories are Hard of Hearing (HH), Autism Spectrum Disorder – Mild (ASD-M) and Specific Learning Disability (SLD).

MRPL Fire Officer Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

✅ You need a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Fire or Fire and Safety from a recognised Indian university. You must have at least 60% aggregate marks.

MRPL calculates the aggregate as the average of all semesters or years. It will not round 59.99% up to 60%. If your university gives CGPA, convert it using the university’s own formula. If there is no formula, MRPL multiplies CGPA by 10, but you must then submit proof that your university has no formula.

Work Experience

You need at least 1 year of full-time experience after your degree result. The experience must be in fire and safety in one of these sectors:

  • Oil and gas or petrochemicals
  • Fertilizer, power or chemical
  • Engineering, project construction (excluding real estate) or manufacturing

Internships, summer projects, teaching, research, freelance work and entrepreneurial experience do not count.

Age Limit (as on 07 November 2026)

CategoryMaximum Age (years)
UR40
OBC (NCL)43

OBC (NCL) with PwBD48

OBC relaxation applies only to the post reserved for OBC (NCL). Even with every relaxation added, the age cannot go beyond 50 years. Ex-Servicemen get relaxation as per Government of India rules. The notification does not state a minimum age.

💡 Pro Tip: The notification lists no separate age relaxation for SC/ST candidates. If you belong to SC, ST or EWS, email pfte@mrpl.co.in to confirm your position before you apply.

Application Fee

The fee is non-refundable and payable online only. Bank or SBI Collect charges, if any, are your responsibility. If your payment shows “pending” or “failed” and does not reach MRPL by the deadline, your application is cancelled.

MRPL Fire Officer Salary 2026

Your pay depends on your years of experience. MRPL pays one consolidated amount per year. The monthly figures below are our own simple division by 12, before tax and deductions.

ExperienceAnnual Consolidated PayApprox. Monthly (gross)
1 year to less than 5 years₹12 lakh₹1,00,000
5 years to less than 6 years₹13 lakh₹1,08,333
6 years and above₹14 lakh₹1,16,667

Other benefits listed in the notification:

  • Provident Fund (PF) as per the EPFO statutory wage ceiling
  • Gratuity once you have been engaged for more than 1 year
  • An ex-gratia payment of ₹25 lakh to the family in case of death, natural or accidental
  • A further ₹25 lakh if death occurs by accident at work inside company premises

Any other benefit follows MRPL’s PFTE policy. Travel for the interview is reimbursed at 3AC train fare, or AC bus fare up to that limit.

MRPL Fire Officer Selection Process

There is no written test. Here is how selection works:

  1. Screening of applications: MRPL checks eligibility from your form and documents.
  2. Shortlisting, if needed: Candidates are called for interview in a 1:10 ratio. For 5 posts, that means roughly 50 candidates. If more qualify, MRPL may shortlist on extra relevant experience or higher relevant education such as M.E. or M.Tech.
  3. Personal Interview (PI): The qualifying mark is 50%. The final merit list is based only on PI performance.
  4. Document verification and medical test: Your originals are checked, and you must be medically fit as per MRPL standards.

If two candidates score the same, the older candidate gets preference. Shortlisting is only for elimination and carries no weightage in the final merit.

  4. Sign in and fill in your education, category and experience details.
  5. Note the Application ID sent to you by email and SMS.
  6. General, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates click “Pay Now”, choose “Advt. No. MRPL/PFTE/2026/03” and pay ₹118.

Documents Required for MRPL Fire Officer Application

Upload clear scans now and carry originals with a self-attested copy to the interview.

DocumentWhat to keep ready
Proof of ageSSLC or Matriculation certificate, school leaving certificate, or municipal or Gram Panchayat birth certificate
DegreeIndividual mark sheets of every semester or year, plus the degree certificate
Past jobsExperience letter showing joining and relieving dates for every employer you list
Current jobOffer or appointment letter showing joining date, plus the latest 3 pay slips
Category proofOBC (NCL) caste certificate issued on or after 01 April 2026, SC/ST certificate or EWS income and asset certificate
PwBD / ESMDisability certificate (40% or more) or Ex-Servicemen proof
NOCRequired if you work in a Central or State Government body, PSU or autonomous body

⚠️ A last-semester mark sheet alone is not enough. A missing experience letter for even one past employer can lead to rejection, even if your other letters prove the minimum 1 year.

What You Should Know Before You Apply

This is a contract role, not a regular permanent post. Here is what the notification says about the terms:

  • Tenure: 3 years, extendable by 2 years, for a maximum of 5 years.
  • Shifts: You must work rotating shifts, including nights.
  • Posting: The job location is fixed by MRPL’s needs.
  • Outside jobs: MRPL will not issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for outside employment.
  • Exit: MRPL can end the contract early for poor performance or misconduct, with 1 month’s notice or pay in lieu.
  • Secrecy: You must sign an undertaking for secrecy.

Is it worth it? If you want a CPSE refinery on your CV and 1 lakh a month or more, yes. If you want a permanent job with a regular pay scale and pension, this contract does not offer that. Compare it with regular PSU openings in our PSU Jobs section.

How to Prepare for the MRPL Fire Officer Personal Interview

These tips are our suggestions, not part of the notification. Since selection depends only on the interview, expect questions from your degree and your own work. Brush up on:

  • Fire triangle, types of fire and extinguishing media
  • Fire protection systems such as hydrants, sprinklers, foam and detection systems
  • Hydrocarbon fire hazards such as pool fires, BLEVE and vapour cloud explosions
  • Emergency response and on-site emergency planning
  • Safety standards used in oil and gas, such as OISD and NFPA guidelines
  • Breathing apparatus, rescue techniques and fire station shift management
  • Your own incidents, drills and training sessions from your current job

The job itself involves running the fire station, maintaining fire protection systems, emergency planning and training employees. Frame your answers around those duties.

Common Mistakes That Can Reject Your Application

  • Having 59.9% aggregate and hoping it will be rounded up
  • Counting internship, training or teaching time as work experience
  • Listing a past employer without an experience letter
  • Uploading a blurry or mobile-phone photograph
  • Paying the fee but not completing the “Already Paid” step
  • Applying as OBC (NCL) with a certificate issued before 01 April 2026
  • Not having an NOC when working in a government body or PSU

Apply only once. If MRPL receives more than one application from you, it considers the latest one received before the deadline. For the latest openings across sectors, see our latest government job notifications page.
