Educational Qualification

You must have passed Matriculation (Class 10). You also need a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprentice Certificate (NAC) issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) in the exact trade you are applying for.

Gun and Shell Factory Salary 2026 – What Will You Actually Earn?

The notice promises a consolidated monthly salary made up of basic pay at Level-1 of the Pay Matrix plus Dearness Allowance (DA) as per government rules. It does not print a rupee figure, so here is a realistic estimate.

Level-1 starts at ₹18,000 basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission. The current DA rate for central government employees is 60%, effective from 01 January 2026.

• Pay is calculated at 1/30th of monthly pay per day for 8 hours of work. Unauthorised absence means proportionate deduction.
• Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) applies as per the Act.
• You are covered under the Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923.

• Tenure: One year at first. It can be extended by one more year after appraisal, so two years is the maximum.
• Status: The engagement gives no right to claim regular employee status.
• Termination: Either side can end it with one month’s notice, or pay in lieu of notice.
• Appraisal: Performance is reviewed every six months. A poor rating gives you 3 months to improve, and a repeat poor rating can end the contract with 15 days’ notice.
• Work pattern: About 8 hours a day, 6 days a week (48 hours). You will not work on 01 January and 01 July.
• Leave: 12 paid days per year, pro-rated. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed.
• Not available: Promotions, overtime allowance, loans and advances, LTC/LTA, study leave, school fee reimbursement and regular medical facilities. Emergency use of ordnance factory hospitals is allowed as per government rules.
• Maternity: Female employees get benefits under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.

Selection Process

There is no written exam and no interview in the selection steps. Your NCVT result does most of the work.

1. Cut-off for trade test: AWTM Ichapur will set a cut-off on your NCVT marks and call shortlisted candidates for the Trade Test.
2. Trade Test / Practical Test: Conducted by AWTM Ichapur at the factory.
3. Merit list: Combined score of NCVT marks (80% weightage) and Trade Test marks (20% weightage).
4. Document Verification: Candidates are called in merit order, limited to the number of posts in each trade and category. Extra candidates are called only to replace rejected ones.
5. Medical fitness test: Selected candidates must pass it before joining.

How Your Merit Score Works – Example

Suppose you scored 75 out of 100 in NCVT and 80 out of 100 in the Trade Test.

This is only an illustration. The practical test is just 20%, so your NCVT marks matter most.

If two candidates have equal merit, the notice gives preference in this order:
