Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• JE & DMS: Diploma or Degree in relevant Engineering disciplines
• CMA: B.Sc. with Physics & Chemistry / equivalent science qualification

Note: Those awaiting results of the final examination of the prescribed minimum educational qualification
should not apply

Age Limit (As of 01 January 2026)

• Minimum: 18 years
• Maximum: 33 years (UR & EWS)
• Age relaxation applies for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD as per government norms.

RRB JE Salary Structure

• Pay Level: Level 6 of the 7th CPC
• Starting Salary: ₹35,400 per month (excluding allowances) & approx. gross salary ₹72,200
• For CMA: Some posts under Level 7 with ₹44,900/month basic pay & approx. gross salary ₹90,100

In addition, employees are entitled to:

• Dearness Allowance (DA)
• House Rent Allowance (HRA)
• Railway Pass for travel, Pension Benefits Medical facilities & extra allowances.

RRB JE 2025 Selection Process

The RRB JE is conducted by Railway Recruitment Board across the India, final selection will follow these stages:

1. Computer Based Test 1 (CBT-I) – Screening test, qualifying in nature, short listing 15 times of the community wise total vacancy of Posts notified against the RRB for 2nd Stage CBT.
2. Computer Based Test 2 (CBT-II) – Technical & General Awareness, Merit-based, post-specific short listing equal to the number of the vacancies for next stage

4. Medical Fitness Test

RRB JE 2025 Exam Pattern

The RRB JE 2025 Exam pattern includes two stage Computer Based Test CBT1 and CBT2 There shall be 1/3rd negative marking for each incorrect answer in CBTs. Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR -40%, EWS-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%.

Note: Virtual calculator will be made available on the Computer Monitor during 2nd Stage CBT.

Syllabus of RRB NTPC 2025

CBT1 : Screening test, qualifying in nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.

• No. of Questions : 100
• Duration : 90 minutes

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices options:

a. Mathematics: Number systems, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM and HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.

b. General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

c. General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General Scientific and technological developments etc.

d. General Science: Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences (up to 10th Standard CBSE syllabus). The section wise Number of questions and marks are as below:

CBT2: Technical & General Awareness, Merit-based stage

• Duration : 120 minutes
• No of Questions : 150

a) General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity and Constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General Scientific and Technological Developments etc.

b) Physics and Chemistry: Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.

c) Basics of Computers and Applications: Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating System like Windows, Unix, Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.

d) Basics of Environment and Pollution Control: Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.

e) Technical Abilities: The educational qualifications mentioned against each post shown in Annexure-A, have been grouped into different exam groups as below. Questions on the Technical abilities will be framed in the syllabus defined for various Exam Groups given at Annexure-VII-A, B, C, D, E & F. The section wise Number of questions and marks are as below:

• Register with mobile and email-id.
• Log in and fill personal details, academic, post preferences and railway zone.
• Upload photo and signature (20–50 KB, JPEG format).
• Pay the fee:
• ₹500 (UR/OBC, ₹400 refunded after CBT)
• ₹250 (SC/ST/PWD – fully refunded after CBT)
• Submit the application and take a printout.
